WP5: Dissemination

Dissemination of project information and results will take place using several methods including:

Project Website: An essential component of the project the SHARE I.T. website will form the main conduit for the flow of project information and deliverables. The website will be established at the initial phase of the project and will explain the reasoning, methodology and aims of the project. Main components of the website include:

  • Access to all deliverable documents created by the various work packages
  • Provide references and links to all source material collated as part of the different reviews (WP1-3) and further reading
  • Details of project related events
  • Protected area for the creation of a SHARE I.T. blog for contributors to discuss project progress
  • Act as the initial interface for the WebGIS pilot

Public Events:

Two dissemination events will be timetabled to occur during the length of the project. The first event, which will occur during the summer, will be a ½ day workshop highlighting the current level of spatial data cr eation for archaeological landscape research. Invited speakers will report on the projects and products they have created over the past 3 years. An example would be the current LiDAR survey of Boyne Valley (Meath County Council). During this workshop results of reviews outlined in WP1 & WP2 will be discussed with an aid to generate interest in the SHARE I.T. WebGIS pilot and to consider professional opinions. The second event will be a public launch and demonstration of the SHARE I.T. WebGIS pilot. Presentations will be given on the development, potential use and future possibilities of the system. All events will occur in the Helen Roe Theatre, Irish Antiquities, Merrion Square.

Additional dissemination activities

In addition to the core dissemination activities paper and article will be submitted to a range of journals, publications and conferences. Possible journals and include: Archaeology Ireland and Internet Archaeology. Suitable conferences include: Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland (IAI), International Conference on Hypermedia and Interactivity in Museums (ICHIM) and the Aerial Archaeology Research Group (AARG).
